C'mon, c'mon. The "something about being gay" joke comes from the episode where Flanders takes Homer to a football game and they become friends. So try to find another humorous one liner from that episode and insert it in the discussion thread to make a joke.

What, we got rules in here now?

No, we do not have rules. But, what I described above is one of the most common ways we have for making jokes around here. That is all.

Well thank God. I always thought anarchy and usenet were synonomous.
Jokes? Those things still around?

Did you ever notice how men always leave the toilet seat up?

That's the joke.

And then those damn females come along and put it down again. I reckon in a multi-person household it should be a democratic decision which position it should be left in ('cos in this place, I'd win!)

I've never understood why this can be such a huge megillah - if you want it up, put it up and if you want it down, put it down. Anyone who sits down on a toilet with the seat up twice has "issues" (e.g., control issues).
"Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me"
Women feel the seat's natural position is down, since they always need it. When it's left up, they feel like it's in an unatural position. Since the need for the seat is optional for a man, it's position always varies, and we are trained from childhood to always check before we sit. I have tried to explain this to the women in my life, but their mindset never changes. It must always be down, or something's wrong. Over time, this issue has taken on a life of it's own. Women now feel that leaving the seat "up" is a sign of male insensitivity, when it really is nothing but a simple difference in how the two sexes use it.

Not really. If you look at the toilet seat in the up position, think of your woman getting her ass stuck in cold toilet water in the middle of the night and shrug and walk away anyway, it is insensitive. Women nagging is just their way of putting that picture in their men's mind.
No, it's stupidity for not checking first, like men have been trained to do since they were toddlers.
It's the feminine mindset forced on the opposite sex. The seat has to be down because that's it's natural position. True for the ladies, untrue for the guys.

Yeah the first thing i think of when i'm half asleep and have to pee really badly is what position the toilet seat is in.
Feminine mindset? Enlighten me on what else a "feminine mindset" involves. I could use the amusement. The actual "natural" position of a toilet would be to have the lid down too and not just the seat making both sexes have to do a little extra work.
Men do the same when they have to do #2. They also have to check if the seat is down before doing #1. What makes you deserve special consideration?
There is no natural position! It's position is dictated on how and who uses it. Next time you need to pee at night, check the damned seat! Men have been doing this since the invention of indoor plumbing. I understand the annoyance of having to check if a seat is up or down simply because a man needs to change it, depending on how he uses the toilet, but you can't blame us for having different anatomy.
Women would make greater strides at getting the men in their life to "put the seat down" if they simply asked that we do it, instead of expecting us to do it. I usually do, partly out of kindness, partly out of the fact that there are more women than men in my household.

Good point. I've never nagged or asked about a toilet seat in my life at all so i don't have any experience in what works to get the toilet seat put down. Being nice about it makes sense though.
Don't need to. it's always down in this house. I married a man who is either considerate or well trained by his mother. Don't know which just that i got him that way.
Yeah yeah. Chivalry is dead and women want equal rights. Well now we have it right? Put your own toilet seat down.

Sorry, but I cannot understand why women can't check to see if the seat is down. My ass in the cold water was enough for me!
