Review: Man, after the buildup of Phish in this episode, I was expecting them to write, produce, and star in the thing. What it turned out to be was a mediocre episode with a few laughs that phish was in for 30 seconds (I thought they might have three lines of dialogue but I think it was four so I was wrong). Also, what is up with all the Clinton bashing over a year after he left office? Dont we have a pretty lame puppet of a president right now that needs a little ribbing, or is it too hard for writers to come up with stuff since we are a "united country" under 43. As for the story, I guess there was one. Homer smokes marajuana and then laughs at everything and then quits. It really felt like a holdover from season 11 with all the wackiness, but I guess sometimes things just get out of hand even under the new regime.

Grade: C+ (lame but still made me laugh once or twice)

As for rating tonight's episodes, Futurama and KOTH were extremely well made, but the Simpsons left much to be desired.

Well, they probably aren't removing jokes about Bush since all of this season's episodes were written and drawn and edited well before 9/11. As for why they're still slapping Clinton around, probably because they still find it funny. Couldn't tell you for sure though...

Futurama tonight was the best episode of this season.

While I agree that the Clinton bashing is facile, they did get in a jab at Bush. When Homer is gloating about how his prescription gives him the ability to flaunt his otherwise illegal pot smoking, he claims that he could walk up to the president and blow smoke in his "monkey face" or something like that. Bush has been widely compared to a chimp in the looks department. Of course, that jab's no more sophisticated than when chimps throw their own feces.

Speaking of spreading feces around, the writers saw fit to skewer Mr. Burns on several occasions as a chronic polluter. The current White House, while adamantly against Texas THC, is all for Texas Tea. Conservation is a "personal virtue" to them but not sound policy. So instead of giving Bush more ideas (next week's official solution to the clean air problem: "We *are* conserving: we've collected all this human hair for burning because airborne particulates are good for Americans" ;-) ) why don't the writers give Bush the Burns treatment?

The great thing about "The Simpsons" is that it's an equal opportunity offender. So people shouldn't be so sensitive when a member of their political party is satirized.

They could've called this episode "Weekend at Bushies", where Homer gets addicted to all the oil George Bush smokes.

Futurama had a great line tonight, something along the lines of "I don't care of there's donkey shit in this bread." "That's good."

Uh, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'm pretty sure they didn't use the word "shit" at any point in last night's or any other episode of Futurama.
