Magic 8 ball... COOL!

I just saw again the episode "Bart's friend falls in love".... and when Milhouse took the magic 8 ball on the bus, I took mine. Shake it, and WOW! It gave me "Without a doubt" in the exact instant Milhouse got his "Without a doubt". What are the odds of that? :)

Hmm...that means there's actually a icosahedron in there, i.e. a twenty-sided die. (Heh. I knew my years of playing Dungeons & Dragons would pay off someday. I was the only kid in class who knew the singular term for "dice." And they said I was a geek!)

At least it did years ago when we took the direct route to the answer. An old 8-ball got dropped and developed a big, gaping crack. We were surprised that nothing leaked out, and since the 8-ball was broken already... (Nothing leaked out since there is a roundish inner container with a bit of a neck at the 'answer hole'.)

That's a tetrahedron you're referring to (4 triangles made into a solid three-dimensional triangle.)

"Answer hole," eh? We always called it the "Window of Truth." And it was believed that drinking the liquid contents of a broken 8-ball, besides guaranteeing one's Coolness for taking a dare, would give one the predictive powers of the 8-ball. Of course we also believed that drinking the mercury from a broken thermometer would give one stretching powers like Plastic Man.
