Where isn't Springfield Located?

Not Massachusetts. But then again, I'm sure most people in Massachusetts couldn't get out of a rotary.

My guess is Springfield is located in the Hyades (or anywhere else in Taurus). What with the Seven Sisters and stuff.

In the episode where Lisa blows the cover off of Jebediah Springfield's founding of the town, a quick flash is made where Moe is tossing dirt from Jebediah's grave onto the grave of one Adlai E. Stevenson, who's buried in NY. Very famous politician in his day and ambassador to the UN. He's even got a stretch of highway here in Illinois named for him, which got us all excited thinking that they were talking about Springfield, IL. There is a Shelbyville IL and a nuc power plant nearby. And would explain why they call Capital City what they do, because they couldn't well call Springfield the capital if it's already the capital of IL.

I'd have to tend to agree though that it's somewhere in NY. =(

This is just the distraction du jour in terms of where Springfield is located. They will eventually drop hints that put it near Mayberry, North Carolina, Bedford Falls (It's a Wonderful Life), Bedrock (Yabba Dabba Doo), and goodness knows where else!

Who uses an astrolabe anymore, even if it does talk? For that matter, sextants that superceded the astrolabe have become fairly obsolete.

If someone really wants to know, all they have to do is get onto the show with a GPS gizmo in their pocket. When they take a reading on the thing, they'll know where Springfield is.
