Phish "Worst Ending Ever" t shirt

Thought some folks would find this funny...The band "Phish" recently announced they were breaking up. I got this t-shirt at their farewell concert.

What I thought was funny was the huge media attention for a farewell concert by a band that I've never heard of...

Geez, at least They Might Be Giants are keeping quiet...

They started in Vermont, and MA isn't all that far off, though I suppose if you live in Boston it's another world.

But, and this is why someone posted this here, they appeared on that episode of The Simpsons where Homer is given a prescription for medicinal marijuana. They are the band that performs, and one of the Phish says he smells something, and somebody had better show a prescription.

There is also a Ben & Jerry flavor named after them, Phish Food, that has little chocolate fish in it amongst other things.

The only other reason I've heard of them is because they sort of overlap Grateful Dead circles.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never heard a song from NSYNC (though I have heard of them), and I've never heard Britney Spears other than in commercials.

But wasn't there an element of a "disaster" in that final concert, what with at least some rain (I don't know how it affected the actual performance) and a lot of backed up traffic. Kind of like that Raffi festival on The Simpsons.

Just the other day I was reading that those who couldn't get to the site not only get a ticket refund, but a free download of the concert, and a souvenir booklet.

The weekend overlapped with the 35th anniversary of Woodstock, and it was rather amusing to contrast the two. A lot of people got bogged down in traffic trying to get to Woodstock (rereading a book about the festival recently, I see that the organizers were forced to refund some unused tickets, adding to their losses), but it was on a much larger scale.
