season 12

Hey everyone,

I have been one of the ones to complain about the newer episodes, but bear with me. I have been going back through season 12 and I think some of those episodes are really good. I think that overall the season is better than both season 11 and season 13.

I know a lot of people have bagged Saddlestore Gallactica, but I don't think it is as bad now I have seen it a couple more times. I only just saw the trilogy of error episode too. I liked it, although I don't like to see too many episodes that vary from the normal script too much (every now and then, like with behind the laughter and the THOH episodes).

One thing though is that the writers seem to admit defeat, when they can't think of anything better. For example, in Saddlestore Gallactica we see CBG come in with a 'worst episode ever' call. Trilogy of Error has Krusty's monkey at the end (can't remember his name) saying that the plot made no sense and in the Great Money Caper, the ending seems to be going nowhere and they just cut it off with a random surfing scene (for those that don't remember is has Otto cutting in from nowhere).

Does anyone share these views or am I going crazy? Keep in mind that I have seen about thirty episodes in the last five days.

That's a common thing - watching them again makes especially newer Simpsons episodes better. I've discussed it with many fans and they share this thought. I recommend trying it to everyone.

Season 12 was definitely much better than the 2 or 3 seasons which preceded
it, although it had its fair share of bad points.  Lisa The Treehugger and
Simpson Safari were bland, The Great Money Caper wasn't particularly great
even before you get to the ending, and Worst Episode Ever was indeed one of
the Worst Episodes Ever.  Some of the episodes had good intentions yet were
struck down by a baffling lack of good gags (Pokey Mom, Tall Tales).   Yet,
it did have some very good episodes - Trilogy Of Error was great (Mr.
Teenie's complaint at the end was totally unnecessary and bemusing - it made
enough sense to me), and Children Of A Lesser Clod, Insane Clown Poppy,
Hungry Hungry Homer and Homer vs Dignity were all pretty good.   Wasn't a
great season, but was a definite turn for the better....
