Actually sir I think it would be easier to explain (describe) what a true fan is NOT.

BTW in my own opinion, true fans to not attempt to determine which episode is the BEST, rather they create a set of episodes which are favorites, perhaps appointing one as the most favorite. Then also they may compare the list with other true fans here at a.t.s or on other forums to determine a "group favorite" which may or may not be assigned the title best episode.

Normally inconsistencies do not bother me at all, we commonly see characters voices change, histories change, ages change etc.

But since the very first episode up to tonight's new episodes Lisa is always depicted as extremely intelligent. She is a major character, and her intelligence is an integral part of her character. Okay there's some episodes where it is suggested she's not for the sake of the plot of the entire storyline.

But to change her character just for five or ten seconds I think is deserving of mention here, especially since this change is totally unnecessary, they could have used other means to demonstrate that Homer's parenting skills were not needed.

Why make Lisa so stupid just for a few seconds that she may suggest that she need help to find three words where "y" is a vowel? In my opinion, this is far worse than having characters' voices change or showing inconsistent histories in flashback scenes.

Well yes of course I agree with what you've said, but surely, Mr. Robinson, someone with your devotion to The Simpsons and a.t.s would see a problem with having Lisa doing this sort of piddly work for just five seconds of air time, and then during rest of the entire series she's a genius. Especially in light of that there are *so many* other ways in which Homer's desire to be a good parent could have been expressed.
