What is it with the last few seasons and vomiting?

Has anyone ever laughed at one of these vomit gags? Most off the top of my head I remember:

Last Sunday's ep with the news reporter Harry Potter THoH with Bart's summoned monster The cartoon dog in Furious Yellow

I know there are other ones I'm missing, but what the hell are they thinking with these? The very lack of "potty humor" is one of the reasons people warmed to the show in the beginning. We now have diahrrea and pee jokes. Instead of doing a clever gag, they resort to gross-out nonsense that could only make a 13 year old laugh. The rest of us say "uhm.."

Last night's gag especially angered me. Think of all the funny stuff that happened in previous eps when the cameras stopped rolling on Brockman ("That ought to hold the little SOB's"). 25 writers pitching gags and this is the BEST they can come up with?

Sure, which would be a result of the intense pressure on TV people to remain thin. That's what I took the vomiting to be a slap at.

Agreed, especially since it Began with Brokaw saying something about how fat he was.

To me, this is an example of how brainless the show's jokes have become. This "joke" could have been set up in a much better way than "'I'm so fat'/blaaargh."

Vomit is not funny and it was done way to much in yesterday's episode. That's the only really bad thing about yesterday's episode. Why did they do it?

It's from Mad artist Al Jaffe, who, when he would draw people vomiting, would include bits of broken bones, chicken heads, bottle caps, broken glass, etc.

Pretend it's Mad Libs. Just put it in front of any bodily function you can think of.

Well, I can't say I was angered by it, per se, but I did think it unfunny and unsophisticated. Very amateurish writing. And unrealistic (not that "The Simpsons" is a show one watches for dashes of realism).

The show has linearly gotten more and more unrealistic over the years. From virtually nothing unrealistic (discouting THOH) from seasons 1 and 2 to absolute nonsense in the last two. Usually it's not the plots themselves that are unrealistic, just the lame gags that have been recycled and need some additional spice. I.E. how many damn times do we need to see that "it's hot, watch me peel myself off this chair" gag? Except this time it was marge peeling herself off of her husband, who was walking around with marge attached to his back. Augh!
