Simpsons musicals

So I tune in to The Simpsons tonight, like I do every night, and settle in for some great comedy. And I laughed a whole bunch, particularly loudly at Apu popping into Moe's and proclaiming "The South shall come again!" Marge was losing her hair in clumps, Lisa found a six-foot blue hair in her soup, Krusty was on stage with a giant KKK in the background, oh yeah, it was great fun.

Until the 8-minute mark, when Lisa began singing.

I couldn't hit the Mute button fast enough. The only thing worse than Lisa singing is Marge singing.

And then, to add insult to injury, every three minutes they started in with another song. My teeth ground themselves to dust.

AARRGGH! I HATE SIMPSONS MUSICALS!!

I wish they would give some indication at the start of the show that it's going to be a musical, instead of teasing me with great stuff for 8 minutes and then turning it all to crap.

You are not alone in disliking the musical episodes - while I tend to like them (if the story line is good), I have started putting "WARNING: MUSICAL ALERT" on my Upcoming Episodes entries whenever they are about to do another one.

Besides the one you saw (Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala-D'oh-cious) and The President Wore Pearls, the only other "musical episodes" I can think of off the top of my head (additions are welcome) are "All Singing, All Dancing", My Fair Laddie, and Yokel Chords. However, a number of episodes do have one or two songs in them (like the song "We Put the Spring in Springfield" in "Bart After Dark").
