I've never understood Arby's bashing on The Simpsons either. I always thought they were great. They're much better than almost every other fast food restaurant.

That's just the writers throwing their weight around because they know they have an international forum in which to voice their opinions, and they think they can influence popular opinion. Basically, they act like jerks because they can.

I think that may be part of the joke, I dunno...I like Arby's...
But then, Vassar is a good school, too...

I thought Arbys was the joke of the fast food industry. Horsey sauce! The only one I know of just closed down. Never saw anyone in there.

They just tore down the closest one to work. Now there are only two in this area (NE Philly) within reasonable distance.
The one I really miss is Roy Rogers. They got bought by Boston Chicken/Market and all the ones around here got converted to BC/Ms. Closest RR is 10 miles north of Princeton NJ and there's one in the Penn Center Station in NYC which I have eaten at when coming into NYC for a convention. Best chicken and burgers.
I remember 'I'm so hungry I could eat at arby's' dig, but what were the other ones?

I don't think this is a shot at Arby's, but rather a shot at Kirk, demonstrating how pathetic he has become. Anyone living next door to a fast food place should know. The drive through box that never stops squawking, irate customers honking thier horns late at night, and loud car stereo systems.
It's no wonder that Kirk would be quick to let Arby's deal with it, out of revenge.
I forgot, what did he throw over the fence anyway? Something disgusting.

I always thought their regular roast beef was rather bland and a little dry. I went their all the time when they had the BBQ roast beef sandwiches, but stopped once they discontinued it. Arby's isn't a horrible restaurant, but I don't care for it. McDonald's is a horrible restaurant. They should change the name to Crappy Crap Crap's Crappy House of Crappy Crap.

Yesterday I went to a local burger place and bought a 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger. It was terrific. Burger, fries, and a drink cost me $8.80, but it was very good. McDonald's burgers, even at $1, aren't worth it. If I want a $0.99 menu I'll go to Wendy's or Jack in the Box. I can't understand how people eat at McDonald's.

I'm ok with McDonalds now and then.
But even within fast food restaurants their food isn't very good. The fries are good though, and they recently started touting white meat Chicken McNuggets. What were they using before?

Sure you can. Hook the little kiddies with the Happy Meals, so they come back as older kids, teens, and adults. Marketing and ubiquity can get people to buy almost anything.

Typical anti-corporate propaganda. If you don't like McDonald's food, that's your right. But to suggest that millions and millions of people eat it for no other reason than marketing and ubiquity defies logic.
Yours truly, Some bozo
It doesn't apply only to food. It also can apply to TV, movies, music, etc. I'm not saying that marketing is the only reason people eat there, but it is a huge reason. Why such popularity for food that isn't lightyears ahead of the competition as far as taste? No other fast food restaurant has been as good at marketing towards kids as has McDonald's, for example. And if you can get kids wanting to go to McDonald's with Ronald McDonald ads and Happy Meals, chances are they'll come back after they outgrow Happy Meals because that's what they're familiar with.

I'm not saying marketing isn't a big part of it. Heck, I grew up with all those Ronald McDonald spots over the years. But all the marketing in the world isn't going to take an awful product to the heights of success McDonald's has enjoyed. No, it's not lightyears ahead of its competitors. But NOTHING tastes quite like a Big Mac. NO ONE ELSE'S fries taste quite like McDonald's. (Wendy's makes great fries... I'd consider them different but equal.)

This, of curse, is simply anecdotal evidence influenced, perhaps, by the millions McD has wpent on advertising over the years. The obvious trick is to get kids eating the stuff, then they think that what hamburgers & french fries are supposed to taste like and other stuff tastes funny.

You do if you market the speed and price of your service as opposed to the quality of your food...McDonald's made it's billions by selling cheap, quickly prepared food...

Cheap? Yes. Quickly prepared? Yes. ...And so are many, many other chains, none with as many locations as McDonald's. (Except Subway, which is in gas stations and convenience stores these days.)
