Yes, that is true. It is also true that he didn't sing "Lisa, it's Your Birthday" for legal reasons as well, although he did all of the other singing in the episode.
he was contractly obligated not to have his voice credited, so its not really his fault. micheal just wanted to be on the simpsons that bad!
