Since I've never heard of those two it's likely they contained Red Dye #2 and were discontinued when red #2 was banned in 1976. Also it's possible that, like M&Ms, they didn't actually contain red #2 but the company discontinued them anyway because of public perception of any food using red dyes.

Frankenberry is STILL on sale. We (or at least I) was talking about Boo Berry and Fruit Brute. But now that you mention it, I think I do remember Boo Berry from the 80's as well. Never heard of Fruit Brute though...maybe that's the one with the toxic dye.
