I have to say, I liked this episode. Good dialog, good characterization.

Did I forget, or was there no "B" story this time? If not, I didn't miss it. The 4-act format is giving me whiplash, though.

Well, it wouldn't be about a homeless family; it would be about a family whose oft-abused neighbor becomes their landlord.

But I don't think the complaint is so much that the status quo doesn't change as that the show doesn't give us a satisfying ending that concludes the problem in the episode.

The whole Mardi Gras thing was the B-story. Sometimes they have the B-story as the setup to the A-story. The one that sticks in my mind is "Bart's Inner Child", where the trampoline story led into the Brad Goodman story, with one or two lines of dialogue linking them.
