REVIEW: B-plus - okay, this is another "paint by numbers" plot, but
        this episode had oompf, it had zing, it had, what's the word
        I'm looking for - zazz.  One of the good things is, they
        didn't go for the "Bart admits what he did, Chief Wiggum is
        humiliated back to being police chief, time for another
        Everything is Back to Normal BBQ" ending (although the
        episode was pretty much painted into a corner - either Chief
        Wiggum comes out looking bad or Kirk does).

GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT There are (at least) two different versions of the Simpsons Chess Set. In both versions, Homer is the king and Marge is the queen. In the first set (with the cardboard box), Grampa is the bishop, Maggie (on a hobby horse of some sort) the knight, Lisa the rook, and Bart the pawn. In the second set (with the metal box), Bart is the bishop, Krusty the knight, Lisa the rook, and Maggie the pawn.

There is no room for a "downstairs" in Alcatraaz's limo.

There is a team called the "Seminoles" playing on Sunday; it can't be Florida State, as college football teams are pretty much contractually obligated not to play TV games on Sundays (in "exchange" for the NFL not playing games on Saturdays before the end of the college football regular season). There could be a semi-pro team with that nickname (and it could be playing the Atoms, which is why it would be on non-cable TV in Springfield).

There is a sign in Kirk's apartment that says "Milhouse's Room on Wednesdays and alternate Saturdays" - but he has custody as of FABF07.

Chief Wiggum's badge is always visible except when he mentions that his fat covers it.

Chief Wiggum already knows he's not exactly the best cop in town; twice, the only reason he was police chief was because somebody else threw away the badge and he was there to catch it (once in DABF17).

History lesson: "Bratty Hearst" is a reference to Patricia "Patty" Hearst, granddaughter of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. The kidnappers demanded that the Hearst family pay for a food program, and they tried, but it collapsed. Eventually, Patty (apparently) joined the kidnappers, and was arrested trying to rob a bank in San Francisco; after serving two years in prison, she was pardoned by President Carter.

I wondered that myself. It seemed like getting kidnapped was more proof that he'd gone to the concert than that he didn't go to the concert because he was kidnapped.

Come to think of it, the person looking worst would be Bart, since he was the one who wasted police resources, and briefly put an innocent man in jail, just so he could avoid parental reprimand for seing a concert he shouldn't have been at in the first place.

And with an illustrated portrait, no less. Jeez, how dense is Skinner, anyway?

One possible explanation for a return to status quo: Lisa gives the cover-up story to Kent Brockman, who exposes the story, freeing Kirk and demoting Wiggum back to Chief.

Hmm. Lisa as the knight would make more sense, what with her love of ponies.

I think it did in the first couple TOHs... there are also a few episodes with non-MG font in the credits themselves, "Viva Ned Flanders" (AABF06) "The Old Man and the C Student" (AABF16) "Thirty Minutes over Tokyo" (AABF20) "Last Tap Dance in Springfield" (BABF15) "Behind the Laughter" (BABF19) and of those 5, I think just the last 2 have different executive producer credits. I'll give them a closer look and get back to you.
