I saw the Simpsons Safari episode yesterday, and I have never felt so disappointed at a Simpsons episode ever. I'm a big fan, which makes it hard to watch what used to be a brilliant show slip to such a low standard.
The episode (as other people have mentioned in a different thread) didn't seem to have a very strong or flowing plot, it just seemed to flash between different scenes with no real purpose. I'm not a fan of the "spend 5 minutes being wacky and then start the episode" thing that seems to happen with every episode these days, although admittedly the first 5 mins were probably the funniest.
I'm probably one of the few people in this newsgroup who has actually been to Tanzania, including the Ngorongoro nature reserve. Some things about the episode were accurate, but other things were just utter bollocks. For a start, they seemed to be in a jungle a lot of the time - there aren't any areas of jungle in Tanzania. I wonder whether any of the writers had actually been to Tanzania before writing the episode.
Anyone, I'm getting slightly pedantic, but for me the episode was just depressing. "The Simpsons are going to Africa!" - that sort of line just does my tits in.
