Peabody Award: Also known as the George Foster Peabody Award, this is an award given by the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia for the works of excellence in radio and television. When it comes to newscasting (as well as documentary making and children's programming) , this award is considered to be most prestigious award given in these fields.

Expo '67: Held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1967 to coincede with the country's centennial, Expo '67 was one of the most successful World's Fair to ever run (and is a major highlight in Canada's history), with over 50 million people (2 1/2 times Canada's population at the time) attending the event.

The Miracle on Ice: In the 1980 Winter Olympics, the United States hockey team were considered the major underdogs in their semi-finals match against the Russian hockey team, who were the dominating leaders in that sport. In the third quarter, it would seem that the Russians would be on their way to another gold medal match, with them leading 2-1. However, in what is considered to be one of the greatest moments in sports history, the United States came back with three unanswered goals and ended up beating the Russians 4-3. The United States hockey team would eventually win the gold medal and became the heroes of the 1980 Winter Olympics.
