There was a episode where Lisa is showing to Homer the location of springfield on a map of the U.S. But Bart walkted in to the screen so you cant see where Lisa is pointing at. I think the creators of the show dont want to that springfield is a real place, because it wouth be a Mekka for hardcore Simpsons fans and that wouth be very stupid.
