I thought the Popeye thing - Jaws Wired Shut

was hilarious. Couldn't stop laughing. I loved the episode, thought it had a lot of funny stuff. Last night was the first time I ever really thought maybe the writers do read and respond to comments made in the News Group and such...it did seem like the bits with Homer being mellow so much that Marge couldn't take the boredom was a response to a lot of complaints about Homer being too much of a "jerkass". Also seems like a lot of people miss Homer's interaction with his family, this ep. provided a lot of that, and I've noticed the last couple of eps have ended with Homer and Marge in a "touching" moment together. Nice to see Maggie actually involved in the ep. Overall, great ep, although I didn't quite get the voice over dialog at the very end, after the family left the arena.

Am I mistaken, or is the show not on next week for the damn super bowl?

Agreed about the voice-over. It was almost like "Here's the moral to the story in case you didn't get it!", but the writers would never have done anything so blatant or stupid, so there's some angle to it that eludes me.

I almost peed myself when the Popeye thing started. I don't think I laughed so hard since "D'Oh! A deer! A female deer!"

However, the boner joke was quite a shock. My wife and I often disagree about letting the kids watch the Simpsons, but I'm very glad they didn't see that. The worst part about it what that I didn't find it funny at all. All I got out of it was "Look what we can say on TV." It was especially disappointing after last week's episode, which was the best in years, IMO, and didn't see the need to shock for shock's sake.

Oh, well, it _is_ Fox.
