CABF20 Review

Wow, all I can say is that this episode has to be on my top ten list of worst Simpsons episodes. The episode totally lacked plot coherency, which would have been okay if the jokes were funny. Alas, I had only about four good laughs during the entire episode, and maybe a few chuckles. I still don't understand the part about Moe's teacher walking into the water, was it supposed to be funny? I don't get it! On the plus side Homer did get another new job. (Deep sarcasm) A note to the writers please do entire Simpson family episodes, and stop concentrating on Homer and Bart.

Agreed...this episode really sucked. I think I laughed once and chuckled once.

List of gripes: Why has Moe become such a centerpiece in the first two episodes? Sober Barney is not funny. Homer's lines were weak. Nothing with Moe's new bar was humorous AT ALL.

Sad ... At least the DVDs of funny Simpsons episodes will continue to be released!

I don't know if I really agree with you're whole review, but I definatley agree with you on this... sober Barney's just not right. Barney's been a drunk for so many years, it's become what he's known for. I suppose they're trying to illustrate the fact that alcoholism can be overcome. If that's the case they better come up with something else for Barney to do other than hang around and drink coffee. He could take Homer's apparently vacant spot at SNPP. (And is it really that much better that he's substituted caffeine for alcohol?) These writers man, they're out there.

Ayup ayup. There have been eps in that past that I didn't like, but now can get a few laughs out of (the lemon tree is one) but this was just silly and weird. Admittedly all I wanted to see was REM :-) and that part was hilarious :-D but I do like celeb appearances that were a little more subtle and not like "it's XXX! everyone stand and gawk!"

But no...this was just stupid and weird. I mean the Bart digging the hole part had us laughing, but that went on for at least 3 minutes! The transition from Bart to it being a story of Homer's could have been a lot clearer.

Swigmore U is a great idea, but don't get the professor part either. There was no point to that.

The Russian hookers part was funny :-D but yes, it was pretty vulgar, not the subtle kind of vulgarity that used to be so delightful.

I really think it is sad to see where the show has gotten. I mean, at least Stewie talks in Family Guy. Soon the show is going to be on the level of Hi and Lois, God forbid.

I don't think it's right to complain about celebrity guests on the show, because if you were a big star, wouldn't you want to be on "The Simpsons?"

There's no problem with celebrity guests, but they should be integrated into the show correctly. REM was pretty good about that last night, so was BTO, but NSYNC wasn't. Unfortunately, they've been pretty bad about this recently.

Yeah, there have been lots of Moe episodes...I am a big Simpsons fan, but probably lack the dedication that a lot of the people here do :-D some things I don't have committed to memory :-) but I can think of at least 3 or 4 eps that centered on Moe's Tavern (Flaming Moe's, prohibition, the boxing one, Renee, Uncle Moe's). I did like the ep where he had plastic surgery :-D That was actually quite funny. Moe is a good character, but one that works when kept flat.

The Real Seymour Skinner I just didn't like. Either it was the continuity from previous episodes that bothered me (the continuity has always bothered me) or the hack ending. Maybe there wasn't a movie reference I just wasn't getting when they sent the real Skinner off on the train? How can a judge declare everything as it was before? I don't know, it just seemed cheap to me.

Yes, Mr. Gould's writing is about as good as his acting (that was him in "Seinfeld" as the guy who would dig a hole and sit in it anytime he did something stupid, like sell Jerry a van.)
