Has anyone ever thought...

Question:

Ok, we all know that the continuity of The Simpsons is plain non-existent. But has anyone ever thought about the possibility of it being feasible to arrange all the episodes of the show in some order as to preserve the continuity? In other words, is it conceivable that the first episode is not the earliest one, but the most regular? And the last one could be, like, the Bible Stories episode, where they descend to Hell. Is there some arrangement that could work? Not including the "Treehouse of Horror" episodes, of course.

PS: I actually have been asking myself this question for longer than I'd ever admit...

Up until about season 4 or 5 I'd say it could have been possible, but events in later seasons make this process next to impossible unless you deliberately choose to ignore certain events, even entire episodes.

For me: 1991 -- shortly after deciding to write a short story and how it would fit in to the Simpsons Universe.

I think they left the monorail. After all, when's the last time we saw it?

I'm pretty sure it was "Marge Vs. The Monorail."

And that was _before_ they moved the town, so that doesn't mean they moved it, right? Of course, I could be wrong, which, if true would mean death for us all.
