About syndication shows and their commercials

Do you get the same commercials (other than local car dealers) during the Simpsons as we do in Albuquerque? Like the "live links" that has a girl saying she can cook while eating popcorn? What kind of commercials do you get?

I'm pretty sure that they are different. I've never heard of the Live Links (I'm here outside of Flint, MI). I think that the different stations have their own advertising for syndicated shows.

Haha - I get those Live Links commercials, but usually on Comedy Central late at night. The commercials are chosen by the stations, but I believe when the reruns were done on a barter system some were put in that they had to run.

when you see syndicated shows, the ads are 100% local. The station pays for the show and gets all the ad time for themselves.

During network broadcast hours, the local station does not pay for the programming, but they are required to air the network commercials, thus reducing the amount of local commercials.

NOW this begs the question-- If a local station gets so much more commercial time when running syndicated shows, WHY ON EARTH do they need to remove content from the show to make even MORE room!?

Not exactly. Some shows are "barter syndication", which are given away for free but come with commercials. I'm not sure how the Simpsons is being offered right now, but it seems to me whether I watch it on WUHF, CKBI, or Teletoon, there are endless commercials for Neutrogena products.

The Simpsons used to be on the barter system...not all of the commercials were included, but I think a majority were. The stopped offering them on the barter system in the US a couple of years ago.
