General Sherman in Tim Burton's _Big Fish_

The movie opens with a nice, pastoral shot of Ewen McGregor fishing in a river. It looks a bit like _A River Runs Through It_ because Philippe Rousselot was DP for both films.

So Ewan, as young Edward Bloom, catches this mighty Catfish ...

After being born and raised in Massachusetts, I moved to the South and graduated from Georgia Tech. And I worked in Milledgeville, Georgia for awhile. Then I found out that on my mother's side there were relatives who had been in the Union Army during the Civil War, and had been with Sherman on the march. My relatives had attacked Atlanta, and Milledgeville! By that time I was back up here in Yankee land, though. Whew!
