I thought this one was noticeably better than last week's episode. The first act had most of the funniest moments (Carl being tired of dumbing things down for Lenny, the graveyard construction scene, Bart's zombie obsession), but the rest was a pretty good character-driven story, and Lisa managed to overcome her fear in an amusing way that wasn't totally ridiculous. One minor problem was that there were several bits that seemed like they were going to go somewhere but didn't, like Lisa's shock at Homer and Marge talking behind their friends' backs (that whole scene felt somewhat out of place), the therapist (although that scene did provide some good meta-humor), and the various things that happened in the graveyard. I guess the latter were mostly there just to scare Lisa and provide some quick laughs, but these moments made the episode in general come off as slightly disjointed. Oh, well. Grade: B-

Funny story. That clip was actually in "Talk of the Town" from season 19, 2 years from now. One-hundred-fifty years (or so) in the future, a young space marine is watching that very episode on his hypePod,. His star ship is flung back in time, to the year 1971, due to accelerating in an arc around the sun (the captain was trying to win a bet). They ship was, of course, instantly destroyed, but not before some of that episode's audio signal was picked up by a young ham radio operator named... Matt Groening. This small bit of audio was perhaps the inspiration for the whole series.
And now you know... the *rest* of the story.
The first act had most of the jokes...
The third act had the feel of a Saturday morning cartoon; especially Lisa's dream. (Lisa even joked about a "Scooby Doo" scenario while in the cemetery.)
Is this a sign of things to come; after cancellation of the series; "The Simpsons Kids" on Saturday mornings with focus on the children?
