Here's an idea for an episode. With the recent US Supreme Court decision to allow school vouchers, why not show how this would affect Bart's school. Reverend Lovejoy could start up a religious school. The public school teachers could panic. Lots of commentary can be made that public school teachers are simply glorified babysitters that are more concerned with their pensions than the students' education. The public school could have lay-offs due to Lovejoy sucking students to his school. You could see the cut-throat tactics of the public school teachers fighting to keep the shrinking teacher jobs at the public school.
*LAUGH* Hey, why not have Homer start up his own school! And what Homer teaches isn't the useless stuff that schools teach, but what kids will really need to know to survive in the real world. Oh man, would this be great for laughs! Field trips to the nuclear power plant and lessons on how to grovel to one's boss. Kids wanting to learn high level math being told that not even engineers use it since computers have come along. Homer could give a real history lesson by pointing out how Prohibition didn't work, how it fueled organized crime, and how the current War on Drugs is simply another form of Prohibition with the same success rate in curbing usage and helping organized crime flourish. As for kids that would go to this school ... hmmm ... Milhouse, the "ha ha" kid, the female twins, and then some of the unnamed kids.
Marge could be one of the teachers in Homer's school (which of course would be in the garage or basement) and teach Home Ec (which would simply be taught in the kitchen).
Lisa would naturally be opposed to going to anything but a public school ... until she figures out that her family could now afford to send her to a school for the gifted.
Moe could start up his own school ... which would teach kids how to be a bartender as well as being cheap labor to wash all the beer mugs. Chief Wiggum's kid would probably go to this school. Maybe Wiggum's kid being the only "student" at this school.
Possibly Burns could start up his own school right in the power plant for the children of his employees. "This way we'll breed in proper subservience into these offsprings of my slaves." Here Bart could rebel against Burns instead of Skinner.
