I just caught this episode for the second time. Is it me, or is this episode absolutely hilarious.
I don't think I've seen a funnier moment than when Skinner flashes back to Nam and sees an elephant eating his platoon. This woud be funny enough, but the scene remains just long enough to realize the elephant is wearing a giant gook hat with chinstrap!
I was rolling around in tears after that one.

This and the boy band one were my favourites from the 12th Season. Yep, I laughed hard at Skinner's Sense of Snow. I love Skinner Nam flashbacks, with my favourite being Johnny on Valentines Day. The part I loved the most in this episode was the movie Skinner showed about the Elves....especially when one o fthem was singing to Little Bo peep. How the hell did they hook up?? Hilarious stuff. Generally, i'm not a huge fan of the 12th season, but this episode was close to 5th season material. (5th season being the best ever).

Outrageousness can be funny, but that scene was just gratuitous.

"Hungry, Hungry, Homer", and possibly Trilogy Of Error are the best of Season 12. "Skinner's Sense Of Snow" was childish, sophmoric, vulgar, and crude. Tim Long has become the Brad Sherwood on 'Whose Line Is It Anyway' to the Simpsons.

You've got to be kidding. "Hungry, Hungry Homer" was absolutely terrible. Homer at his obnoxious worse, and so was the plot. Even the _voices_ were atrocious-- Kirk's first line didn't even sound like Kirk. "Trilogy of Error" will not stand up to the test of time.
The ironing is delicious when people use the word "sophomoric" wrong. Look up the word in the dictionary to find out why.
That's in "The Wizard of Oz," not "March of the Wooden Soldiers." Lisa's 'over-explanation' was welcomed, IMO: for people who aren't familiar with MWS, it defines the point more, and for people who _are_, it's hilarious.

I�d say "Hungry Hungry Homer" was one of the best season 12 episodes and by far better than "News Kids" which I consider as one of the most childish and crappy episodes I�ve ever seen. "Hungry Homer" is somehow connected with reality and makes at least partly sense and - most important to me - Homer wins at the end and isn�t humiliated just for the sake of fun or just because some 10 year olds want to hear him scream.
Concerning "Sense of Snow": it�s not really a good episode but it has its better moments and some good lines for Homer and Flanders.
On the other hand, the circus plot is senseless and has no meaning for the story, the Skinner torture goes way too far and destroys the relationship between Skinner and Bart and the ending is stupid. And Lisa being in a mob that burns books? How very strange. And such a mass of sex jokes in a Christmas episode? Nah. Not good. A pretty uneven episode and one I don�t want to see very often. My favourite Christmas episodes are still "Roasting on an open Fire" and "Marge Be Not Proud" which are both a million times better than "Sense of Snow".

Again, "you've got to be kidding." The conflict was so forced that I was almost gagging. It was like "Okay, let's put Homer in a hunger strike, because he hasn't done it before." One can't just pull passion out of one's ass. A passion that would lead to something like a hunger strike's got to be handled a certain way, whether it's for laughs or not. And that was a mark that was certainly missed.
Well, I don't know what you were doing while Season Five was still being run, but you surely would hate those ones because "New Kids..." captured the spirit of those episodes better than ANY episode since that magical time.
That's stupid, and you're missing one of the central points of comedy. And I'm embarassed for the both of us. Homer's actual winning any kind of battle destroys what was one a fantastic comedic paradigm (spare the 4F12 quotes, please), that the Simpsons characters were more like "real" people than any other show because they rarely won battles, but rather took blows from life. When was the last time _you_ "won" a hunger strike? It's always funnier and closer to the human experience for a character to fail, because our own mortality is a shared experience that things like comedy help us to cope with. Making Homer _win_ is what's going to appease the 10-year-olds.
Yes it did. The storm at the circus led to the snow. It's one of the better transitions from Plot-A to Plot-B that we've had in the past few years, (although that's not saying much). And the whole kite formation bit made it worthwhile.
If you want to blame the destruction of their relationship on a particular episode, you have to go back quite a ways. Blaming this episode alone is silly. And the exchange between Bart and Skinner at the end restored anything that was wrong. For a moment I thought I was watching a T.J./Prickley exchange out of "Recess."
I rather liked the ending. It was cute and wrapped everything up into a neat little package, without being overly pretentious.
If the writers knew anything about Hume and included some kind of reference to his works, it would have been acceptable, but knowing Hume's work without having been _told_ by the episode what was going on is just as acceptable..
It wasn't a Christmas episode, per se. The events happened around Christmas (chronologically) but it's not as if it were a particularly "Christmas" themed show. It's not that inconcievable (sp) that a show with 250+ episodes have instances where it's the winter and it's _not_ Christmas, is it?

Marge Be not proudi think is a boring episode, I didn't laugh at all during the whole episode I didn't even crack a smile. I thought the episode sucked.
