I lived in Madison WI (aka The People's Republic of Madison) for a while and the article rang V E R Y true!

But it's a typical experience for conservatives living in highly liberal areas. I had a similar run in in spring 2000 in the farmers market located within Union Square (a small patch of Berkley right in Manhattan). Some people were trying to get Green Party candidates on the local ballots, and when I was approched, I politely said "No thanks, I'm a Republican". You would have thought I had said I was a member of the clan. I was called every name in the book as I tried to get away. The fact that my wife and 3 and a half year old son were with me made no difference.

The hard left is as inflexible and intolerant as the hard right, perhaps more so because they are so infrequently challenged on it.

I call bullshit on this article. There is no way there are so many people in that area are hostile toward parents. I suspect this woman is one of those parents who thinks it is "cute" when her kids tear around like maniacs in a store, or scream like banshees in public.

If I saw a number of other people expressed the same view as she did, then I might be willing to believe this... but without corroborating evidence, the story is just not credible.
