Would purists object if the future DVD versions of these episodes included proper intros? Even if it deviated from the original airing, I would prefer that the missing frames be added. It was okay to lose Lisa on her bike and the mysterious shrinking lightpost, but the new episodes go too far. Also, those liberal freaks go too far.

No, I agree with you. X-Files got it right with their DVD's. I also think that there should be a "play all" feature on the Simpsons instead of having to navigate through menus every time you want to move on to the next episode...

There was a huge debate on this (the play-all feature) in here when season one came out on DVD. Lots of tender toes which led to lots of flames for some reason. I don't think it's an unreasonable request though.

hey, yeah - i've been thinking about that too. that would be nice. why wouldn't they include that? then you could just sit back & feel your ass grow as 4 or 5 simpsons episodes go by unedited, no commercials, ... uuhhhhaaaggggggghhhh

I just think it was an oversight. Perhaps they will add that feature this time around, but who knows?

They'll probably remain the way they were when they aired. Some Season 1 episodes have extremely short intros, and according to the commentary it was because of time constraints.
