The following very quick scene in Treehouse of Horror 12 did not make a lot of sense to me --
In the pre-credits bit, as Smithers is sliding down towards the electrical box, Mr. Burns can be seen checking his watch. This reminded me of what he does in the "regular" opening credits as the 5:00 whistle is blowing inside the plant. But what did it mean last night? Does it *have* any particular meaning?

I think it could have had some relation to what happens at the beginning of each show, however, I think it was setting up to the scene with OFF as trick-or-treaters, and the extent that Mr. Burns would go to scare them (Smithers adjusting the bat hanging on the sculpture, getting electrocuted, scaring OFF to run through the fence, and get sliced up. No particular meaning, like the rest of the Halloween show, but entertaining (I thought it was a little long though) -Aaron TheYAM.net
