SIMPSONS "CREATE YOUR OWN CHARACTER" CONTEST As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Fox is running a contest where fans can describe (no drawing necessary) a character, complete with catchphrase(s), and the winner gets a trip to Los Angeles and "a meeting with a Simpsons animator" who will design your character; supposedly, the plan is for the character to appear in the 1/31/10 episode, although the rules say that, while the winner will receive a cel containing the character, the character "may" appear on the show (and there is always the chance that any scene(s) with the character end up cut at the last second).
Enter at http://www.thesimpsons.com/character/ Entry deadline is 10/28; the winner will be announced 11/15. Only residents of the USA are eligible (sorry, Jouni). Note that there is nothing that prevents the show from using non-winning entries as the basis for other characters in the show. Also, there is no guarantee that the character has a speaking part (and, almost certainly, the winner would not provide the character's voice) or will be a recurring role - for all we know, the character will end up in a crowd scene.
