That's Garvey. Though I'm certainly not a newbie to the internet, I've never really heard that term...do you mean don't set my browser to put the reply at the top of the message? If that's the case, I like it this way. When there's a very short reply to make to a short message, it's fine. You don't have to scroll to see what I had to say, you know? I'm sorry if it's screwing up the logical flow of a thread. By the way, I am mindful of similar concerns...I don't typically include the entire body of something when I'm only replying to a tiny part in the middle, blah blah blah.

The funny thing about usenet is that you'll go to one ng and they'll tell you "Don't top post. It's rude", then you'll go to another ng and they'll tell you "Please don't bottom post. It's inconvenient". The real kick is that both ngs will invariably say "bottom posting/top posting [delete as applicable] is common practice on usenet"!

I do middle post sometimes - if the post I'm replying to has various items and I want to reply to them one by one, my post will alternate between quoted material and my reply. I do this more often in email, though.
