CABF 18 capsule submission, a Q, and an anecdote

Somebody already mentionned that it was strange that Snake knew the word 'trilobite', and somebody responded that maybe his 'student loan payments' were for courses he took in archaeology (BTW,should be paleontology). This is the second time that trilobites are mentionned on the show. I recall an episode where Bart doesn't have anything prepared for show 'n' tell, so he randomly picks up an object in Lisa's room, makes a comment (forget what), and Lisa replies: "No! That's a trilobite" Q: Does anybody know which episode this is from???? I'm drawing a blankk here.

And now, an anecdote.... At my work, we have a newsletter which features (among other things), an article about an employee. Last November, I was the 'chosen one', and so I got a chance to blab about my favourite passion, which is collecting trilobites. Not many people know about these guys, easily less than 10% of the population, I'm sure. So it was a pleasant coincidence that the Sunday following the newsletter's publication, that Simpsons episode aired. All of sudden, my arcane hobby had been 'validated'! Thank you, Simpsons people!

Trivia: MG also mentionned trilobites in one of his Life in Hell strips --Jeff and Akbar's Reincarnation Hut.

Famous trilobite collectors: Bill Gates, Nicolas Cage, Dr. Seuss. (Does MG collect them too?)

Uh maybe it's 10% up in Canada where beer drinking is a major in college, but down here I'd say pretty much anyone who went to college, and anyone who took biology in High School, knows what a trilobite is.. Snake obviously knew it as an insult, meaning someone who hasn't evolved, which isn't such a stretch. Nobody ever said Snake was an idiot. I think they were mentioned in some Star Trek episode, and I think there are a few college teams called The Trilobites. Nerdy schools, yes, but they are more well known than you think. Dull, but well known.

If getting mentioned on The Simpsons is validation for you, I'd take a look at some of the other "hobbies" mentioned..Like clubbing snakes and alcoholism and having sex with fish..yikes!
