in the blunder years, when he was yelling for like 10 minutes, lenny and carl brought him back from the plant, so i guess they do still think he's working there. and i think no continuity is a bad thing.

Yes, Homer still works at the plant, but the brick on a rope has been covering for him recently. And it's doing a darn good job of it too.
