So, 3F03 with Bart in a sense. I liked seeing the issue from his point of view, and the episode was OK otherwise too. It was also fun in particular to see Bart and Lisa working together like in their mystery- solving days. Not a lot else for this summary, but I have to say Homer punching Flanders in the face for no (good) reason seemed a little mean even for him. Oh well.
DYN: ...another new sax solo? (That makes 30 used in the show, and 6 new this season!) ...the ratings bugs are blue again? ...Bart tries to feed Lou whole sod, not just the grass? ...Lisa's group uses the phrases "milk is murder" and "cheese is genocide" - even though there's no direct need for killing cows (or goats, etc.) to get those products? ...Cletus's kids still get new names every time we see them? ..."Lou" sounded fairly clearly like Dan Castellaneta when he was shipped off to the slaughterhouse?

Other references Bart's speech to Lou at the end, along with the scene in general, is like the ending of Casablanca, of course. I don't think La Marseillaise (aka Springfield Anthem) is used at that point in the film, but it does feature in a prominent scene earlier on.
Meta-reference corner (which in an interesting coincidence I originally typed as "meat") -Lisa's animal sound CD is done by Tress MacNeille (or at least the CD says so, I've never heard her do animal sounds), and so is the announcement Homer correctly identifies in the slaughterhouse. Tress of course is a very popular voice-over artist, and has been on this show since the first season. (Frank Welker, who you'd think would be more suited to crediting for odd animal sounds, hasn't been with this show for years, and I'm not sure why. He's still doing Futurama.) -"I had a cow, man"

I was watching the repeat of JABF17 earlier tonight (first triple airing of a season 19 episode, by the way), and Milhouse made a reference to (Greek) Orthodox Easter. Today actually is Orthodox Easter! (And yes, the line was present in the original version as well, though I can't imagine why they'd change such a low-profile thing anyway.)
