Frankly, I think Hank Azaria did a better Jerry Lewis impression than Jerry Lewis did.

Interesting that Lewis worked with Harry Shearer, because Harry's written extensively (and not always glowingly) about Jerry's career. Harry covered Jerry's 1976 Labor Day telethon for a 1979 issue of FILM COMMENT, and Harry saw a version of Jerry's unreleased movie THE DAY THE CLOWN CRIED (Jerry played a circus clown in Auschwitz -- don't ask) and talked about it in a 1992 issue of SPY magazine.
