Time to get settled in for the rest of season 18! It's hard to judge how things will go based on a TOH episode; as for this, it didn't blow me away, but I liked it well enough. "Married to the Blob" seemed a little hard to swallow (har), since even for a fantasy story it was a little out there in terms of Homer's characterization. I have never *seen* "The Blob" myself, and this didn't really do it for me - the humor didn't mix well with it. No real comments on "Golem." But I could listen to Maurice LaMarche impersonate Orson Welles all day, and that greatly added to my enjoyment of the last segment (one of the high points being his sound effects demands). Surprisingly, based on the way it was promoted, its relevance to the Iraq war seemed a bit tangential; I think it might have been even better if there were only one focus (preferably the first). DYN: ...8F02, 1F04, and this episode are the only three Treehouses of Horror so far whose TOH numbers equal their production numbers? ...this is the first Treehouse of Horror with a story based around Kang and Kodos since AABF01 (and I'm not counting intros)? ...the start of "The Day the Earth Looked Stupid" mimics the usual Simpsons intro for a little bit? ..."nose, bud"?

Extra note Over a week ago, a copy of this episode appeared on the internet and made the rounds; I didn't watch it, but I did at least learn that there were no Halloween-themed credits in it yet! In the version broadcast tonight, there were of course. Is there some lesson in here for all of us? Probably not, but it's an interesting note.
