Why are the Simpsons writers so liberal?

It's a funny show when it wants to be, but they need to can the sociopolitical junk. Kill off Lisa.

God forbid you accidentally hear someone else's opinion:-P It's like Dick Cheney ordering that all the TVs in his hotel rooms be turned to Fox news.. He doesn't want to hear news which might imply that his administration might have flaws.

Besides, what is so Republican about killing bulls for entertainment purposes? Republicans, from what I know of, are made up largely of good Christian people. Even most farmers wouldn't agree that an animal should be murdered for some sick form of entertainment. Food, maybe, but just for kicks?

Maybe because it is an example of giving a damn about someone besides yourself. Gasp, liberal guilt. Don't worry though, 'cause I'm pretty sure there are a number of Republicans out there who care about more than where they are going to get their next bribe from. A number of Republicans, who like a number of Liberals, got into politics, thinking they could use their position and education to help their community.

It belittles American if you treat a political party as if it were a football team. Can't you agree with the other party on *any* grounds? Meet them halfway? If liberals became very vocal about their hatred for mass murderers, would you then become pro mass murderer?

The problem is not hearing someone else's opinion; it's hearing the same opinion constantly. The Simpsons writing staff suffers from liberal groupthink. They should hire Conservatives like me to restore some balance to the show and actually make it amusing again.

Would be better if they hired some comedy writers. Your comments sort of qualify you, but I don't we're talking Seasons 1-4 funny.

I am already well aware of the mainstream liberal opinion, and I have rejected it years ago. (no personal offense to anyone) I would prefer not to deal with political issues when I all really wanna do is laugh at The Simpsons. I definitely do NOT need to be reminded how liberals think each time I watch the show, rather I need to relax and get some cheap laughs. hahaha

If you are going to make a blanket statement about the political orientation of these news organizations, I would suggest you provide some proof. I would hardly call any of these liberal, with the exception that NPR is a moderate-conservative network.

Let's examine a few facts: ABC is owned by Disney. CBS is owned by Viacom. MSNBC/NBC is owned by GE (who owns Westinghouse Electric). These three major networks are owned by very powerful wealthy companies/stockholders/individuals who have made bllions of extra dollars as a result of the policies enacted by the current administration. Why on earth would they want to criticize the hand that feeds them.

These networks have all been cheerleading during the run up to the war and all throughout the conflict. For example, before the Iraq war, the balance of who was allowed to voice their opinion (pro vs anti-war) was radically skewed to the pro-war side. Over 90% of the guests allowed on various news programs on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX were pro-war. The companies that own these stations (particularly Westinghouse, which makes missiles and other military hardware) were set to benefit from the war.

If you also examine the nature of our media you will see that it will always be complacent with the current administration's policy. If media outlets are owned by large conglomerates of corporations who count on their earnings from potential and current advertisers on their networks, why would the network criticize a policy or action taken by the government or a corporation that may potentially alienate potential advertisers (revenue).

These are not isolated incidents, if you examine all the evidence, you will see a pattern that is traceable for the last several decades.

BTW-I am not just some "wacky liberal." I consider myself unaligned to any political doctrine or party.

You seem to be under the false impression that liberals somehow are "anti-capitalist".

There's not much difference between Dems and Pubs on economic issues. The Democratic party isn't really even anti-Iraq war.

It's in the social issues and the culture war where the real conflict arises.

I never suggested that the dems and repubs were any different. Both wanted the war, both are funded by the same companies and special interest groups (in varying amounts). They are different heads of the same entity.

They are different on a few social issues that tend to polarize the country-abortion, gay rights, racial issues, assisted suicide, etc-but that's about the extent of it.

Yeah, I agree with that. It would make the show better.

I wouldn't say kill her off, but rather that they should revert her character back to where it was before she became a vegetarian. The whole PC thug thing is bad enough, but even worse for an eight year old. Yeah I know it's just a cartoon. :-) Just my opinion.
