hidden message in Prisoner episode?

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but I did a google search and didn't find any mention of it...

In "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes," as you recall, Homer is taken to "the Island" for an extended "The Prisoner" riff, right down to Patrick McGoohan reprising his role as Number 6. One thing I found interesting was Homer asking #6, "Who brought us here? Did YOU bring us here?" and Number 6 responding, "no!"

Among fans of The Prisoner, there is a segment who believes that Number 6 WAS Number 1, and arranged for his own capture, for a number of possible reasons. That exchange may have been McGoohan either trying to put that rumor to rest, or tweaking some overzealous fans. Any Prisoner fans in here? Any thoughts?

I always thought it was, as you say, tweaking overzealous fans, akin to some of the Comic Book Guy's statements.

If you wish to debate semantics, try this: Even if someone saw it, it *was* hidden (emphasis on the past tense); or at least it could have been hidden. It just *isn't* hidden any more (emphasis on the present).

How about "subtle," instead of "hidden"?

I won't fight you on that (because your post appears an attempt to make people think).
