The Simpsons is still better than 95% of the shows on television, and I can only think of 1 sitcom that rivals it
I can't think of any show that rivals it. The Simpsons is funnier on more levels than any other show could dream about being. Why do so many of you complain? I see complaints about how the first 7 years were the funniest, or the last 2 years have sucked, etc.. Get over it! This show is the best!
BTW if you want to get technical, the first 2 years kind of sucked. It didn't really get funny until it became all about Homer.

The Simpsons have been in decline since "it became all about Homer". You can also call him "Jerkass Homer". This does NOT mean that The Simpsons are worse than anything else on TV, but there has been a decline in the overall quality of the show, like it or not.

Would you prefer more episodes like season 1 and 2, where Bart says a new catchphrase every week and that is supposed to be the joy of the show? Okay, look, its wrong to go and say "worst episode ever" every week without backing yourself up with real arguments, but its also wrong to say that anyone who ever expresses any kind of criticism other then "this show is the bestest!!111!" isn't entitled to opinions.
And who said seasons one and two were mostly about Bart? Going over the list of episodes, I found more of a tendancy towards Homer then Bart actually. And for the matter, the middle seasons were generally well balanced (seasons one and two were also really, but again I noticed a strong tendancy toward Homer) between each character. I don't think, save for seasons 9/10+, that its ever been either "The Bart Simpson Show" or the "Homer Simpson show". I think people simply create notions about the episodes based on which characters were popular and why at the time, rather then actually watching the episodes and maybe listening to the commentaries (you'd be suprised what they say about the so called "catchphrases")
