COMIC BOOK INFORMATION
-Death of Superman: In 1992, DC Comics had plans to do a storyline in which Superman finally marries reporter Lois Lane. However, the plans to do that storyline was delayed since Lois and Clark, a Superman- based TV show that was being produced at the time, was going to have the same storyline, and DC comics wanted the TV show wedding to coincide with the comics. Hence, DC comics needed something to fill for time. The answer: a storyline in which Superman dies after a brutal fight against a supervillain known as Doomsday. The event was very huge in the comic world, with it not only one of the best selling comics of all time, but being a major multimedia event that was covered on radio, TV, and newspapers.
-Tintin: First appearing a Belgiam newspaper in 1929, Tintin tells the tale of an investigative reporter who gets involved in various adventures. Recently, it has been announced that Steven Spielburg and Peter Jackson will be collaborating to create a film trilogy of the comic.
-Watchmen: Written by guest star Alan Moore, Watchmen was a twelve- part comic book series. Set in an alternate United States in which costumed adventurers exist and the US is on the brink of nuclear war with Russia, Watchmen told the tale of a group of superheroes past and present and the events that happened after one hero is killed. Watchmen is was a huge influence in modern day comics, as it popularized the "graphic novel" format that a number of comics use today, with it winning the Hugo Award and being named one of the "100 best English-written novels written between 1923 and present" by Time magazine.
