Instead of arguing about the state Springfield is in, we should create a list of clues for and against given states. This may have already been done at www.snpp.com, the only place in the world where you can have an orgasm without removing your clothes.

FOR EXAMPLE, when Sideshow Bob is released from prison and tries to brainwash Bart to kill Krusty, Bob says that he talked to someone in the prison over at Chino and found out that they are allowed to stay up to a certain hour at night. Chino is Chino, California, I assume, and if you assume that Bob is in a state prison, he is in a different state prison that is also in California.

FOR ANOTHER EXAMPLE, when Homer wins the Harley at the dance contest, the bikers who come to his house to threaten him say that it was an easy ride from Bakersfield to Springfield. This also points to California.

I am not advocating the idea that Springfield is in California. I believe that Springfield is supposed to represent any mid-sized town in the USA. Snapping fingers may not make food appear.
