(Assuming that at some point you thought it was.) Yeah, it has flaws which we a.t.s. readers discuss, but considering that most other current series suck like a grease trap vacuum hose, do you think that The Simpsons is still better than anything else out there?

It may be unfair to even compare Simpsons and Family Guy. Apples and oranges.
I'll just say it doesn't leave me disappointed. But I think I've come to invest so much into the ritual of watching it every Sunday, that's what I enjoy. If this season (or last, or the one before that) were a show's inaugral season, I probably wouldn't watch it.

Same here. There are only a few shows I watch religiously other than OFF, e.g. Jeopardy, Dog Whisperer and some other Nat Geo shows, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, etc. Sunday night isn't Sunday Night without (even a lame episode of) OFF, which means I enthusiastically hate NASCAR, long football games, and _especially_ The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
