Hello, I'm a long time lurker, never posted before but I was wondering who runs this newsgrgoup? What can be done to eliminate posts like Rob Wade's and porno requests and other flaming? Who's job is it to turn this into a group that is a pleasure to read every day? I just wanted to know because I have some suggestions but I think it would be better if I emailed them privately.

You can "Block Sender" or "Create Mail Rule form this Message". It is easy to clean things up. Also be sure to block anyone who feeds the trolls. Complaining (or responding) about the trolls more than once will earn you a PLONK too.

No one, because Usenet doesn't work that way. When you have a newsgroup, there are two methods. You can either allow anything that gets posted on it to stay there, forever, or you force every single thing posted to a newsgroup to go through a moderator, who then posts to the newsgroup himself, if he feel's like it. That's it. And Once something's on Usenet, it can't get off, because it's not centralized on one server like Web based message boards.
Most decent newsreaders have the ability to block specific posts from certian users or with certian content. I'm not sure if Outlook has that, (Outlook is pretty horrible when it comes to Usenet, apparently) but there's some other good free newsreaders out there. Free Agent, Mozilla/Thunderbird, and so forth.
Rob Wade and Dr. Pr0n seem to have settled down, though, for the time being.

I use OE and I am able to block senders, and messages (either "mark as read" or "delete") - almost anything that is posted.... (like all posts where the subject line has the word "the" if I choose). I think that is jim-dandy, but I suppose it would be great if the spam wouldn't get through at all.
