Hi All,
I was just wondering - is there a regular pattern to the airing of new episodes, or is it sort of random?
I'm not in the U.S (not even the same hemisphere)and every Tuesday (your Monday) I check for new torrents, look at some TV guides, etc. Anyway, it's a bit tedious and thought maybe they only air once a fortnight - but it seems that is not true either.
So do they air every X number of days or is it more or less random in the States?

It's more or less random, except that it's pretty much all reruns in June, July, and August, and there are usually no new episodes in October (because this is when Fox airs baseball in the show's normal time slot). Also, usually there are only two new episodes in February because they don't "waste" new episodes when other stations air the Super Bowl football game and the Academy Awards (Oscars). They have to fit 22 new episodes into the months from September to May, and in addition, they usually show new episodes pretty much every week in November and May (because those months, and February, are when ratings are used to determine how much they can charge companies to advertise during their shows). As a result, there are occasional gaps of two or three weeks between new episodes.

Which is entirely stupid because none of these factors determine whether or not I will watch an episode of The Simpsons at that time. (unless the Packers are playing)
The determining factors are the temperature and level of sunlight outside.

What about a breaking news story about the FBI finding Jimmy Hoffa's body? Or a trip to Mt. Splashmore?
Did you ever get that Simpsons merchandise that you bought but hadn't arrived yet even though the check your parents wrote had already cleared and been cashed?
Unfortunately, the Packers don't get on TV over here in Newton, Massachusetts much any more because they aren't that good any more. This upcoming season is the 40th anniversary of the Ice Bowl, which I remember watching on TV when I was a little kid.

1. The Packers were going for their 3rd straight NFL title. I was excited. 2. 1st football game I ever saw on a color television. 3. One of the most exciting sporting events I ever saw on TV.

I was only 11 at the time. Here is what I remember.
The first thing the announcers said at the beginning of the game was that it was 13 degrees below zero.
There is a sack by Lee Roy Caffey that shows up in a lot of highlight films. I remember that play. They showed it over and over again on instant replay.
I remember Starr's fumble.
I remember Dan Reeves' TD pass to Lance Rentzel.
I remember the last few plays from "the drive" vividly. 1. Starr's pass to Mercein that moved the ball from the 30 to the 11. 2. Next play, Mercein's run to the 1. 3. Anderson's two failed attempts to score. 4. Starr scoring.
VIVIDLY. Like I saw it live last week.
