anyone watching futurama right now? it's like "The Genesis Tub" meets "Deep Space Homer" crossed with "King Of The Hill." I mean, a tiny civilization with lots of 2001 references and a Sherpa-assissted journey up a mountain? let's see how it pans out.......

That show is just not funny anymore.

And what's with the stiff dose of morals throughout the ENTIRE episode? What is this a sit-com cartoon or Church? I mean, it was a nice warm, well-intentioned message, but I don't watch Futurama to learn morals and values...

The line they kept repeating during the show (also the last line of the ep) something to the effect of "when I am doing right, they won't even know I'm doing anything" or something like that.

That's pretty churchy. Also the fact that Bender meets "God" was fairly churchy as well.

Let's not forget that the whole episode was completely not funny. If it were a really funny episode with all the churchy stuff, I don't think it would have mattered. But since it was entirely without humor, one can't help but to feel like it was just one big moral message wrapped up in a cartoon.

It's not "Gravey and Jobriath", you know.

I'm a little surprised that everyone is commenting on the "preachiness" of Futurama this week. Of any preachy cartoon I've ever seen this had the most intelligent and modern concept of faith.

In comparison you should have seen KoTH's nightmare sequence tonight where Monsenior Martinez is shoving ten year-olds into a lake of fire for being led astray in their faith.

I know Bender's been to robot hell before, but that episode was more of a lesson on the extreme sides of behavior (and the catchy hell songs). Bender was disliked when he was extremely good as well as extremely bad.

I have no problem with good, intelligent messages on shows like "The Simpsons" and "Futurama" if they are accompanied by humor, but sometimes that's not the case. I missed this episode so I can't comment on it, however I will say that I feel this way about "Lisa the Iconoclast" and I think that is the most overrated episode ever.
