Billy Wilder

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know have a list of Simspsons refrences to Billy Wilder they could post?

I know Kubrick refrences are the most common director refrence on The Simpsons. I know that Citizen Kane, Gone With the Wind, The Godfather and The Godfather II are the movies most often parodied on The Simpsons, but Billy Wilder has two movies that were pretty much remade as episodes of The Simpsons.

The Fortune Cookie and Bart Gets Hit By a Car have pretty much the same plot, and Radio Bart is a lot like Ace in the Hole ( I also read that Ace in the Hole inspired Mad City; that Travolta movie where a dumb security guard takes a bunch of kids hostage and is then used by a reporter played by Dustin Hoffman. Not a great movie ).

Are there more example of this? Do any of the other episodes have off-handed refrences to Billy Wilder movies?

Well, let's see. In the Bobo episode, there is a picture of Burns in the famous Marylin Monroe over the air gates pose from "Seven Year Itch" and wasn't one of the episodes actually named "Dumbell Indemnity", an obvious reference to "Double Indemnity". I'm sure there are others.
