Has there ever been a Simpsons adaption, and wouldn't it make for a great episode (or even *gasp* a feature length episode)?
A Christmas Carol
No adaptation in an episode, no...but some episodes have had references
to it, like in Burns' Heir:
Burns: Heh heh, look, Smithers -- a creature of pure malevolence. He's
the perfect one to suckle at my proverbial teat. [opens window]
You there, boy! What day is this?
Boy: [cockney accent] Today? Sir, why, it's Christmas Day!
Burns: I was talking to _him_. You! What day is this?
Bart: Huh?
Burns: I'll tell you what day this is: today is the day you become my
heir!
There are probably more...but that answers your questionTumasae wrote:

And the line by Gary Coleman: "Whatchoo talking about everyone!" ---> God Bless us, every one!

Every now and again, Mr. Burns says "Bah, Humbug" too.
No. But on a similar topic....

It's a shame that there are only a few references to Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol". There should be an Xmas special made based on this (especially now that George Burns is up there playing table tennis with Jimmi Hendrix). Here is a cast list:
Scrooge: Burns
Cratchett: Homer
Tiny Tim: Bart
Ghost of Christmas Past: the late George Burns
Ghost of Christmas Present: Smithers
Ghost of Christmas Future: Maggie------------ http://www1.kingston.net/ik/lee/index.html
What we have here is failure to assimilate

Hey gang...what do yall think of a Simpsons Christmas Carol? It hasnt been done yet, and I think it could be an amusing hour long rip-off in classic Simpson style of the familiar old story. All the characters necessary are present, and this could be a stand-alone story ala the Simpsons Halloween Specials.
My ideas for characters:
Scrooge = Burns (soooo obvious)
Cratchit = Homer (also obvious)
Mrs Cratchit = Marge
Tiny Tim = Lisa, who has developed some terrible disease or infirmity
Peter Cratchet (Cratchets oldest son) = Bart...he can also be the
boy that Scrooge has buy the Christmas goose, and he keeps the money
for the goose.
Marley = Smithers, wrapped up in a feather boa rather than chains,
and glowing because he died in a meltdown caused by Burns' cutbacks.
The Businessmen = Dr Hibbart and Principal Skinner, looking for
donations to help fight "that nasty breakout of dysentary at
Springfield Elementary"
Fred, Scrooges nephew = Hans Moleman
Ghost of Christmas Past = Grampa Simpson (Im the ghooost of
Christmas past...and I need to use the bathroom!)
Ghost of Hannuka Present = Krusty the Klown ("What you need is a
litte Milk of Human Kindness, Burns! Here, have some vodka!
Mazeltov!")
Ghost of Christmas Future = Ned Flanders ("Repent-a-diddly-doo,
Burns, or you're gonna burn-diddly-urn in hell!")And many of the other denizens of Springfield can make an appearance.
So...whaddaya think?

tear up the planks! -- here, here! -- it is the beating of his
hideous heart!"

How has no one added to this thread yet the quote from the Dental Plan episode where Burns looks at them and puts his hand to his ear and says "Look at them all, through the something and something, They're not sad at all, they're actually singing"? And it goes on.

Yes--because that's a Dr. Seuss ref., not a Dickens ref.

Well, I get the two authors mixed up all the time, so, well...

How? I'm not trying to be mean... just wondering what the connection would be.

It was a joke. Once again I have failed. (reading from book) "We request the pleasure of your company for a frank exchange of ideas."
