1. In Homer and Marge's 1st apartment, there is a picture of Grandpa Abe on the wall, and he looks just like he does today. Yet, when Homer went to borrow money from him, he still had most of his hair.

Just like in the first handful of episodes Barney Gumble's hair was yellow (i.e. skin-colour), and in his first appearance, Waylon Smithers was an african-american. Oh, and Millhouse van Houten also had black hair every once in a while back then...

True, although his genereal hairstyle - seen in a cartoon universe - could be an afro (an oddly coloured afro, but nonetheless). I'm basing the fact that he was supposed to be black entirely on Groenings comments in the Season 1 DVD set...

Actually, it's Wiggum's hair that went from black to blue. Moe's hair went from black to grey. Either way, they are continuity errors. It was early enough in the show that I assume smaller characters didn't have their models set in stone yet.
