Could somebody please send me this ep, I tried looking for it on Kazaa to no avail. I've watched every episode this season, but missed this one because it was the middle of the week. Just my luck, it's billed to be one of the seasons best :\.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could email me the ep, at this address ([email]). I would have watched it on TV had I have had Tivo/ReplayTV, but I missed it and knowing FOX, it'll be years before they show it again :\

Dude, you got Road Runner, so you can use the binaries newsgroup to download it, just look for episode DABF17 and download it. Use Xnews (go to download.com and you can find it there) and then go to alt.binaries.tv.simpsons. You should be able to figure it out from there. -Aaron TheYAM.net

Depends on the overall size of the file you're downloading. Some of the episodes are 20m and less. A 56K modem would be able to do that in under 20 minutes.
A high-quality MPEG video is about 220 MB in size. If you can find a stable source you can download it (if you're online 24/7) within a week. A low-quality MOV, ASF, or RAM file (I recommend ASF, its quality is almost as good as MPEG) takes up about 30-90 MB, and should be downloadable in 2 days. IRC is a good source if your connection is 24/7, but if it's not, you've got to try finding it from servers. Search at www.singingfish.com . One good site is http://65.104.13.18/heffray/Simpsons/Episodes/, but it might not be always online. Be sure to use GetRight or some similar software. The best way is, however, is to find a friend who has a high-speed connection and get him/her to download the files for you and then burn them into CD's for you.

First off, I have a number of high quality episodes in various formats, none of them are over 70m. Second, most of my eps are 20m or less and they're of fine quality. Lastly, let's do the math...
20m = 20,000k
20,000k ------- = 357sec 56k/sec
357sec --------- = 5.95min 60sec/min
Even if the source is only allowing 10kpbs up-speed, you're still going to get that file in about 30 minutes. 2 days to download a file that's 20m in size would be based on an download speed of 0.12kbps...
The largest files I've downloaded are 7-9 megabyte MPG and WMV video files (i won't describe their content, hehe), and that usually takes me 25-35 minutes. If the episodes are 20 megs in size, I should be able to download them in 60-70 minutes....not a big deal to those of us without high speed connections.

OK, so really 20 MB = 20480 KB but close enough. :)
Here is where you math goes wrong. You have 20,000 KiloBYTES divided by 56 KiloBITS per second. It is important to remember that KB is kilobytes and Kb is kilobits. If you convert the 20,000 KB into bytes you have 20,480,000 bytes. Now, you need to convert bytes into bits which is done with a factor of 8. (8 bits = 1 byte)
Of course, that's theoretical. In real life you would never seen a full 56 Kbps download. If I remember my life with a modem, I used to get between 4 KB and 5 KB of download speeds. That means a 20 MB file would take between 68 and 85 minutes.

Actually, I would estimate between 12.5 and 15.5 hours under good conditions (4KB - 5KB / second). Pending a stable source you could download it within a day.
