European DVDs

I just found out (yeah, I'm a quick one) that Season 1 DVDs for both Futurama *AND* Family Guy are available...in Europe. Why are they not making them in the US? Are there any plans to make them available in the US that you guys know of? If my DVD player can play Region 2, is there any problem with getting those DVDs? Any help is appreciated...thanks in advance.

They won't release DVDs of those thows in the US because they want to ensure the profitability of syndication if they choose to syndicate them. If they decide not to syndicate then they will release DVDs. Or if they do decide to syndicate then they will wait until they've been in syndication awhile and DVD sales won't hurt syndication profits. If your DVD player plays Region 2 then you can play Region 2 DVDs.
