First of all, David Letterman will not get one named after him. This would be a bad idea. Besides, if he truly wanted to get one, he's talking to the wrong person. Mayor Bart Peterson has no control over naming an interstate highway as I-465 is. He would have to talk to the governor. Not that any of this is significant, but obviously here in Indianapolis it's a big deal. I 465 links 4 interstate highways (I-65,I-69,I-70,I-74) and is the most traveled interstate in the state.

This is getting OT, but that IUPUI article is one of the worst opinion articles I've ever read. The writer's main argument is that they shouldn't do it because he thinks locals will not refer it as the Letterman Expressway and wouldn't be able to give visitors directions. 1. That's ridiculous, other named interstates still have a numbered classification, they wouldn't name another interstate 495 just because they renamed this one.

2. If they were local they would know what the Letterman Expressway was. And if they didn't it's the only circular interstate in the area, easily identified name not withstanding

3. He's stratifying his own opinion of not wanting to call the expressway "Letterman" on the rest of the state (as a Hoosier, I'd be glad to say I'm taking the letterman to Indy)

4. That road was only named in Lawrence in Oct 2002, that's This Month, it's not like Letterman already had a road and is trying to take them all.

I suppose that's what you get when you go to half a college. Besides I'm still waiting for the Axl Rose Parkway here in lafayette.
